Excerpt from HACK BACK YOUR MIND
The subconscious mind is a double-edged sword.
On one side, it is the seat of learned skills, automatic habits, and deeply ingrained wisdom that allows us to function without overthinking.
On the other, it can be a prison of inherited beliefs, unexamined fears, and repeated mistakes.
Much of what you think of as “you” is, in truth, a collection of subconscious programs acquired through culture, upbringing, and repetitive experience. Scientists estimate that up to 95% of our daily decisions are influenced by the subconscious.
This means that most of our actions are automatic. You don’t consciously think about walking, brushing your teeth, or typing on a keyboard.
But you also don’t always consciously notice the biases that shape your judgments, the emotional triggers that cause you to overreact, or the self-doubt that whispers in your mind before you take a risk.
These too are subconscious programs.
